America Makes Friends
These pictures form part of a major project to document the work of the United States Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation since it was instituted in 2001. The Fund gives grants to institutions in developing countries throughout the world to help preserve important cultural sites, practices and artifacts. The fund is regarded as a highly successful low cost policy initiative, and the documentation was commissioned in 2006 by the US Embassy in New Delhi to highlight a positive aspect of American foreign policy. The projects shown here fall within the South and Central Asia division of the State Department.
