Child labour in the Indian garment industry

As wealth increases in India, so does demand for garments that are richly encrusted with fine crystals, particularly for weddings. Young children, whose nimble fingers are ideally suited to the work, are employed to sew the crystals onto the fabric. The children are often forced to work in poor conditions for very low pay, and miss out on an education as a result.
